Mission Statement

The purpose of the Policy ASPA is to increase policy awareness within music education and to build music educators’ capacity for policy analysis, development, and implementation. If you would like to stay informed on policy issues, follow us on Instagram and like our Facebook page

Policy E-Kit

Click here to view the E-Kit resources. Members of the Policy ASPA have developed an E-Kit that addresses current music education policies and policy-related topics. These resources were designed to provide music teacher educators, in-service music teachers, and pre-service music teachers with information important for understanding and interacting with policy.

Goals

Attendees at the Policy ASPA’s working session during the 2025 symposium drafted the following goals to direct the work of the ASPA:

ACTION ITEM 1

  • Connecting and engaging music teachers, school administrators, and other stakeholders with policy resources through state MEA sessions, updated e-kits, NAfME webinars, social media, and other communication channels.

ACTION ITEM 2

  • Generate policy scholarship, including articles, presentations, and e-kit videos relevant to the myriad issues facing music teacher education
