SMTE announces the theme of the 2015 Symposium on Music Teacher Education: Toward a Stronger, Richer Community.
The purpose of this sixth symposium is to sustain the professional conversations that have characterized the symposia held since 2005, and recognize a decade of collaborative accomplishments in the Society for Music Teacher Education. At the same time, the theme of the symposium, Toward a Stronger, Richer Community, invites consideration of how to continue broadening the diversity of voices and perspectives that contribute to conversations and strategic actions. The theme also invites envisioning how strategic alliances could be built among music educators, music teacher educators, and related stakeholders. Therefore, SMTE welcomes and encourages participation in the symposium from music teacher educators, state and local fine arts supervisors, K-12 educators, state policy officials associated with certification, licensure, and school improvement, deans and directors of the arts, and graduate students in music education.
The 2015 Symposium on Music Teacher Education will be held on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, September 17-19, 2015. All event information will be posted on the official 2015 Symposium page at smte.us/2015. The call for proposals and details about the submission process will be released October 1st, 2014. Please visit the official 2015 Symposium page for updates.
