Proposal Decisions for 2015 Symposium Now Released

The review of proposals for the 2015 Symposium on Music Teacher Education is now complete! The primary author of each proposal should have received a notification with the reviewers’ decision. Authors of accepted proposals must confirm their intent to present using the link in the notification email or from the 2015 Symposium page. If you are a primary author and did not receive a notification by email, please contact

We received 308 proposals for the 2015 Symposium, which marked a new record for this biennial event. Each proposal was blind-reviewed by three music teacher educators from the SMTE leadership (the Executive Committee and the ASPA facilitators).  The scores were standardized to correct for group variation among the reviewers, and then ranked within the type of presentation format chosen by the submitting author (primary presentation and/or poster session). With limited space and presentation times available, selection was very competitive. In the end, only 20% of all proposals were accepted for presentation at primary sessions, with an additional 50% of total proposals accepted as posters or Graduate Research Forum posters.

Registration for the Symposium is open now. Please be sure to check the 2015 Symposium page at for all future updates and information.
