SMTE is pleased to announce Dr. Jacqueline Henninger as the first holder of the new Board Advisor position for the 2020-2022 term on the SMTE Executive Board. The Board Advisor office was created in a 2019 revision of the SMTE Bylaws “to provide expertise to the Board regarding an issue or issues that are currently impacting music teacher education and/or representing expertise that is not present on the Board through the other offices and appointed positions.” Dr. Henninger is Associate Professor and Chair of Music Education at Texas Tech University. She brings a background of scholarship in teacher preparation and multicultural music education, in particular connecting to East African musical culture stemming from her work as a Fulbright Scholar in Tanzania. We look forward to her role bringing additional perspective and voice to the Board’s consideration of important issues over the next two years.
