The submission portal for the Symposium on Music Teacher Education 2025 is now open at https://www.openconf.org/smte2025 The submission window will close on April 15, 2025 at 11:59 PM PST. This year’s conference is themed “Advancing an Inclusive Scholarly Community: Renew, Reinvigorate, Recharge” and details of the call for proposals can be found at this link or at the SMTE homepage. In addition to Research and PPI presentations and papers and the Graduate Research Forum from past years, this year’s Symposium will include two new formats: Lightning Panels and Curricular Roundtables. Lightning Panels will be comprised of three 5-minute presentations each grouped around related themes, followed by an open discussion period intended to allow for connection making, theory building, and potential collaboration. Curricular Roundtables are designed to be discussions between a roundtable of educators and the audience with a central theme. The organizers of the conference welcome submissions from those both within and outside music teacher education and particularly encourage collaborations between music teacher educators and other stakeholders in music education.
This year’s Symposium will also include a limited number of virtual presentations that will allow for remote participation for presenters and participants.
When you first visit the submission page, you will need to set up a new user account (even if you have done one for previous SMTE or NAfME conferences) by clicking on “create an account” in the middle of the screen. On subsequent visits, you can “sign in” in the upper right hand corner from which you will be able to make proposal submissions.
