2019 Symposium Update

We are pleased to provide three updates on the 2019 Symposium on Music Teacher Education:

  1. The Overview Schedule has been posted at https://smte.us/2019-symposium-overview-schedule/. This schedule is subject to change. Assignments to presentation sessions and poster sessions will be posted in July.
  2. SMTE is striving to be a child-friendly symposium.  While SMTE and UNCG cannot directly provide child care, there will be options available to support parents who will be attending with children.  These include networking support for person-to-person childcare sharing, support for attending sessions with a child, assistance with identifying potential child care opportunities, and a nursing room.  Please watch for more information available on the SMTE website as the conference approaches.

  3. On Friday evening, September 13, a Forum for Conversation will be held in order to discuss the decision to return the Symposium to Greensboro, NC, as well as how SMTE and other organizations can best consider their location decisions in the future. The Forum will be moderated by Karin Hendricks and Daniel Hellman.  Leaders of other organizations are encouraged to listen and participate in this discussion to aid music education professional organizations in being inclusive and responsive as they plan meetings.

Important reminder: Authors of accepted presentations and posters must indicate their intention to present. Please complete the form using the link you received in the June 17th email.

Information on travel, lodging, and registration will also be available on smte.us soon.
