The SMTE Executive Committee has previously announced that the Symposium on Music Teacher Education will not be held in North Carolina in 2017. The Executive Committee remains concerned about the impacts of NC House Bill 2 on our members and on the music teacher education community. At this time, we are pleased to announce that the 2017 Symposium will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on September 7-9. Please note that this is one week earlier than the previously announced dates. We thank all SMTE members for your patience as we made alternate arrangements for a new venue, and further details will be announced very soon. In particular, the Call for Proposals will be released within the next week, and we look forward to receiving a wide range of excellent proposals for the 2017 Symposium.
