Professional Development for the Beginning Teacher
The purpose of the Professional Development for the Beginning Teacher ASPA is to identify and describe effective models of mentoring and support programs for new music teachers, and encourage further research and strategic action in this area.

Goals
The Professional Development for the Beginning Teacher ASPA has established the following action items:
- Propose a session for the 2012 Biennial Music Educators National Conference: Using Technology to Facilitate Music Teacher Mentoring
- Collaborate with the Experienced Teacher ASPA on an eKit
- Write a Descriptive Status Report on Selected State Music Organizations’ Professional Development Initiatives for Beginning Teachers
- Compile a Comprehensive Literature Review on Professional Development for Beginning Teachers
