Get Informed: NAfME and AACTE Resources on Proposed USDoE Regulations

January 8, 2015 By SMTE Admin

megaphone-147176_640There is now less than a month remaining in the public comment period on the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed rules on data reporting for teacher preparation programs (ending Feb. 2nd). As you return from the holidays, it is very important that music teacher educators use and share the resources in this post to get informed and participate.

NAfME has created a summary of how these regulations could affect music teacher preparation, and the Music Education Policy Roundtable has drafted a statement in response to the proposed regulations.

The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) has compiled a range of resources for learning about and responding to the proposed regulations. AACTE will be hosting two free webinars in the next week, with registration available here:

  • Friday, January 9, 12:00–1:00 p.m. EST
  • Monday, January 12, 3:00–4:00 p.m. EST
