AERA Music Education SIG call for proposals

Music Education Special Interest Group

The Music Education Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association invites researchers to submit research proposals on any aspect of music teaching and learning in any educational context. Research utilizing any paradigm will be considered.

Session Formats
• Paper
• Poster
• Roundtable
• Symposium

The submission system will open June 3, 2013. Proposals are due July 22, 2013. No late proposals will be accepted. Abstracts should be no more than 120 words and individual paper submissions should be no more than 2000 words excluding references, tables, charts, graphs, and figures. Further guidelines for submission are published in the May issue of the Educational Researcher and are posted on the AERA Web Site and can be found at:

Failure to follow proposal guidelines may result in removal of submissions from consideration. Please remember that submitted papers should not have been presented elsewhere and should not be published prior to presentation. All Music Education SIG Annual Meeting participants must be members of AERA and the Music Education SIG. Memberships expire on December 31 of each year. Join early to obtain the maximum benefit of AERA membership. Graduate students who have papers selected for presentation within the Music Education SIG are eligible to apply for a small travel stipend (usually $200.00 USD).
