March 30, 2011 By Linda Thompson

The SMTE Executive Committee is pleased to announce that Deborah Meier will be our keynote speaker in Greensboro this September. She is currently a senior scholar at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education, and is noted as a progressive educator and vice chair emeritus of the Coalition for Essential Schools. As a principal, Meier established a climate of trust and respect for teachers at Central Park East High School in New York City and has written widely on school reform, policy, and curricular matters. Her book, “In Schools We Trust,” has been widely cited.
